CLEAN UP YOUR BODY AND FEEL alive!

Lets face it the last 6 months have been a challenge for all of us, the whole world has been at the mercy of a pandemic such is COVID-19. A good part of it spent in lockdown for most of us and restrictions haven’t eased off yet.

This has taken its toll on everyone mind, body and soul. It is human nature to seek comfort in times of stress. The hormone dopamine (the pleasure/reward hormone in the brain) is released when we taste something which we enjoy. Unfortunately most comfort food is processed and full of sugar, salt and additives and along with alcohol have to be processed by our livers. Consuming too much of the processed stuff will not only lead us to gain weight but also to feel sluggish and generally a feeling of well “meh” Not to mention how it will start to effect skin, breaking down collagen producing wrinkles and leaving you susceptible to spots or adult acne. The skin is our biggest organ and when the liver is overwhelmed it uses skin to help the body lighten its toxic load!

Our poor livers are already overwhelmed faced by the demands of modern day living and a whole heap of environmental toxins that are impossible to escape in the modern world.

Once our livers are not as able to work as efficiently this toxicity can back up and be stored in our cells causing eventually dis-ease and a whole variety of mental problems. Poor liver function may increase your chances of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.

The liver is also responsible for fat metabolism efficiently, a toxic liver will lead to weight gain tends to occur around the abdominal area will develop.

On an emotional level high levels of toxicity in the body have also been linked to low mood and various forms of depression, which is really a form of anger turned inward. General moodiness, feelings of despair, and occasional outbursts of anger can all be caused by a burdened liver.

The idea solution is to endeavour twice a year detoxes to lighten the load (which is something I used to do on a regular basis.) However for most of us including myself this is not possible as we also have families to run after and work to attend and the detoxing process can feel quite unpleasant in the body. In a proper detox unless your liver is running very efficiently, because toxins are rapidly released into the blood stream and without proper naturopathic management, the liver will not be able to cope. The toxins will then back up in the body to be stored in cells and you can feel sick. This completely defeats the point in the first place!

As an alternative and great compromise a more gentle approach is recommended to allow the body to clean up at a slightly slower place so your liver can cope with the toxicity your cells will release.

I have decided to run a “28 day Total Body CLEAN-UP Challenge” from early October. I shall be posting more information with regards to this on the lead up to October…Watch this space <3
