It was the Autumn equinox on September the 21st. Autumn is the perfect time to get over a break up, reassess your career goals, process the feeling of loss, do an intestinal cleanse, particularly to focus on intestines and lungs...you get the picture.

Below are 5 benefits you may not know about to why this is the cleansing season to take advantage of:

1. Release the wastes or toxins residing in your Large Intestine that may be pushed into and through your skin. You may be currently looking for relief from bloating and constipation.

2. Regulate your sweating. You may find you are sweat easily during the day or very little even when you are exercising. The mechanism of sweating is controlled by the pores in the skin and in Chinese Medicine when the Lungs are strong they look after the action of closing and opening of the pores.

3. Clear your skin. The areas that are related to the Large Intestine and Lungs are on the back of hands between the thumb and index finger, along the outside of the elbow, tops of the shoulders, back of the chest or the top of the chest. Look out for pimples, rashes, eczema, psoriasis. This is a sign that your skin is being used as the largest organ in the body to push out toxins.

4. Get clarity! When your mind things clearly you can make better decisions, and prioritise your life better too. It’s all because all the waste is being processed well and it’s not fogging up your brain. There is now research that talks about gut-brain connection. Scientists call this the enteric nervous system(ENS) or 'little brain", which is not so little. The ENS is two thin layers of more than 100 million nerve cells lining your gastrointestinal tract from oesophagus to rectum. ENS is found to directly to communicate with your "big brain".

5. Let Go! By clearing the physical waste you will also start gaining a new, fresh, healthy perspective on life situations. Be not surprised when your relationships become less toxic or maybe some relationships end. You start reacting less and being present more. Wouldn’t that be lovely?!
